New Amsterdam Opera

Tenor Michael Morrow, called "riveting” and “breathtaking" by the Brooklyn Spectator (Canio Regina Opera 2014 production of I Pagliacci) was most recently seen in Verdi's Il Trovatore as Manrico with St Petersburg Opera. In 2016 he also performed the roles of Calaf in Puccini's Turandot (Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra), the tenor soloist in Verdi's Requiem (Bozeman Symphony), a debut of Manrico in Il Trovatore (New Rochelle Opera) and a debut as the title character in Verdi's Otello in a production featuring Metropolitan Opera soprano Jennifer Check as Desdemona for Berks Opera Company garnering critical praise for his "clarion upper range and vocal heft" as well as for "projecting an incredible range of vocal emotion". Michael also gave a performance of Don José for New York City Opera’s Carmen in Bryant Park. Michael has sung Don José in cities across the United States (St. Petersburg, Las Vegas, New York City) as well as across Europe (Monte Carlo, Geneva, Zurich, London and Paris).

As Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Berks Opera Company of Pennsylvania, he was compared to the great dramatic tenors of the past with "a brilliant, golden sheen" and "phrasing and vocal expressiveness making his Pinkerton memorable". Michael has appeared as Riccardo in Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera (Regina Opera), Verdi's Luisa Miller(Rodolfo) with Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble, and Verdi’s Macbeth also with Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble where his appearance as Macduff was credited: "Michael Morrow sang his mournful aria "Ah, la paterna mano sensitively, ..and in what turned out the be the most thrilling moment of the performance, ...the rousing cabaletta "La patria tradita" (James Jorden, The New York Observer).

Michael spent the summer of 2013 as a member of the Mediterranean Opera Studio where he coached his repertoire with Italian national treasures Salvatore Fisichella, Nicola Martinucci and Marcello Giordani, culminating in concert performances in Italy. In 2015 he received a grant from The Koch Cultural Trust. He has also received awards in 2015, 2016 and 2017 from The Olga Forrai Foundation, an organization that supports and encourages dramatic voices.

A native Kansan, Michael makes his homes in Wichita and New York City.
