Zhanna Alkhazova, Soprano

Establishing her career with performances of some of the greatest roles in the lyric and dramatic repertoire, soprano Zhanna Alkhazova has already distinguished herself as “a veritable force of nature” in the minds of critics and audiences alike.

“Russian-American soprano Zhanna Alkhazova is a veritable force of nature, like a hurricane, never losing her firm grasp on solid technique, she invests each aria with the passion we want to hear at the opera.” (vocedimeche.net)

This season Ms. Alkhazova made her Regina Opera debut in the Title role of Manon Lescaut. She then returned to Vocal Productions NYC to debut as Elisabetta in Verdi’s Don Carlo. This spring she also made her Chamber Art Society debut in Washington, DC where she performed in a joint recital of Russian chamber music. Highlights of the 2016 season also include her Lincoln Center debut as part of the Chinese New Year Celebration Recital Series. Next season, Ms. Alkhazova is engaged to return to Regina Opera in the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni.

“As a soloist, Alkhazova revealed an instrument capable of heart-stopping mastery, shifting swiftly from sounds of burnished gold to softly pinging, pitch-perfect tones, all in the upper register.”

In 2014/2015 season Ms. Alkhazova made her recital debut in the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall and her role debut in the title role of Tosca with the Martha Cardona Opera Company. She also made her debut with Vocal Productions NYC when she reprised her interpretation of Nedda in I Pagliacci. She then went on to make her debut with New York Opera Exchange as Micaëla in Carmen and returned to New Rochelle Opera with the same role Spring, 2015.

“Enter Donna Elvira, a role which requires a large sound; soprano Zhanna Alkhazova fulfilled the requirements of the role to perfection. She has been seduced and abandoned by the Don and pursues him throughout the opera. Her "Mi tradi" was superb as she did a fine job of limning the ambivalence Donna Elvira has toward her love object.” (vocedimeche.net)
